Life is too short to miss out on recovery for men and women affected by drug and alcohol addiction.
Dear Aloe Valley Wellness Manor Team,
I’m writing to express my deepest gratitude for accepting me into the program in January of this year and for the immense support and care you have provided throughout my journey. You ensured that all my needs were met, from food, clothing, and cigarettes to genuine counsel and direction. Your support allowed me to focus on my recovery fully and build a foundation for a hopeful future.
Thank you for helping me with my health, including the extensive dental work and providing access to vital resources. I am especially grateful for helping me secure my ID card after over seven years, which has been a critical step in my reintegration. You have given me hope, challenged me to address my personal defects, and equipped me with the tools needed to face life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.
I want to extend a special thanks to Hendre for his unwavering guidance and support, and to his wife, Nadine, for always accommodating my tuck shop needs with kindness. Uncle Johns’ memory is treasured and respected, and Spencer’s lessons on patience with strong character types have been invaluable. Grant has been a steady presence, always firm yet compassionate, providing a shoulder to lean on whenever needed. Jerome, especially, has shown me that with commitment and effort, anything is possible—he has truly reinforced the message that we do recover.
I am also grateful to Sean Holder, whose dedication to my recovery has been inspiring. His shared experiences have been instrumental in helping me shift from a victim mentality to a victor’s mindset. Greta’s spiritual guidance has been a source of strength, helping me see my place in society as someone who has learned from past mistakes. Joeleen’s inspiration and motivation have pushed me forward in ways I will carry with me.
Lastly, two special people have made my transition even smoother: Prof. Piek, whose humor and kindness have been a source of joy and encouragement, and Madelene, who provided me with art supplies that allowed me to use my creativity as a therapeutic outlet. I am profoundly grateful for the art equipment, which has been priceless in both value and meaning to my recovery.
To everyone at Aloe Valley Wellness Manor, thank you for the role each of you has played in my journey. Your support, compassion, and guidance have been life-changing, and I am leaving here with a stronger sense of purpose, equipped with the strength to continue forward.
This is not my goodbye, but rather my farewell. I will keep in contact with all of you who have invested so much into my life. Please don't hesitate in asking for my assistance in helping with your social media marketing or any design related tasks. God Bless you all.
With all my gratitude,
David Gilliland
